Selection process

All African Heritage" youth 25 years of age and under living in Manitoba are eligible to apply. Application information is sent to the school divisions by April 15th of each year. The application form includes a personal profile, reference, academic transcripts and proof of acceptance at a recognized institution. The application are "due July 15" of each year and are selected by a panel. Successful candidates are notified in August, then are presented with the scholarship at the Annual Awards Brunch in September.

The amount awarded varies from year to year depending on available funds. "Generally, $250-$600 are given each year". In honour of the 10th anniversary six awards of $1000.00 was given out.
